GSI published the commemorative map, "CENTRAL TOKYO" for the enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor

On October 22, 2019, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan published 1:10,000 Topographic Map “CENTRAL TOKYO” in commemoration of the enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor (Japanese and English versions).

The map is intended to leave Tokyo, the capital of Japan, as the map at the time of the Emperor's throne, and convey central Tokyo clearly in the first year of the new era, "Reiwa", both in Japan and overseas.
The publication of the map in commemoration of the enthronement was the fourth time following the Taisho, the Showa, and the Heisei.
In the Taisho and the Showa, maps of central Kyoto were created. In the Heisei, a map of central Tokyo (Japanese and English versions) was created in the same way as this time.

〇Characteristics of the map:
•The map covers approximately 10km from east to west and approximately 7km from north to south centered around the Imperial Palace (Chiyoda-ward, Tokyo).
•In order to represent an overview of verticalization of the city, the building is expressed three-dimensionally using gradation and shadow.
•In order to represent a city with a lot of greenery, it is expressed effectively by changing the shade of green according to the tree height.
•A calm color scheme consisting of Japanese traditional colors is used.
•There is a memorial embossed mark engraved with Phoenix on the top right of the map.
