Bilateral cooperation

GSI has been promoting scientific and technological cooperation under the bilateral agreement.

United States-Japan Conference on Development and Utilization of Natural Resources(UJNR)

United States-Japan Conference on Development and Utilization of Natural Resources (UJNR) was established in 1978. The goal of the conference is to contribute to earthquake disaster mitigation efforts and to improved earthquake prediction for both Japan and United States. Various joint observation are organized in the field of geodesy, surveying and geophysics, the data of which are shared and studied for better understanding of earthquakes and other disasters. GSI plays the leading role of Secretariat on the Japan side.

Japan-Korea Conference for Cooperation in Geodesy and Cartography

On Republic of Korea side, National Geographic Information Institute, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport takes part in Japan-Korea Conference for Cooperation in Geodesy and Cartography. Since 1974, the objective of the Conference is to promote information exchange and research and technical cooperation between Japan and Republic of Korea in the field of geodesy, cartography and geographic information for better mutual understanding and further development of survey and mapping of both countries.
 

Japan-China Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Surveying and Mapping

On China side, National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation, Ministry of Land Natural Resources takes part in Japan-China Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Surveying and Mapping. Since 2003, members from Japan and China discuss and exchange information in the field of surveying and mapping for further promotion of technical collaboration and joint reseaches.
