AbstractThe Expression of three-dimensional space using digital cartographic data and computer graphics methods has been investigated at the Geographical Survey institute of Japan since 1994. These studies have been carried out as part of next generation map research. So far, we have studied a data producing method and a three-dimensional model generation method, and have experimented with making realistic landscape images to consider the type of data to be used in next generation maps. Various results for the realistic expression of three-dimensional space were obtained. This paper describes the process and results of creating three-dimensional landscape views. |
