AbstractUnder investigation the mechanism of the 1888 collapse of Bandai Volcano, as part of the terrain had not been elucidated fully. We restored the terrain around Bandai Volcano before the 1888 collapse using Pre-collapse maps. Maps we employed were "Bandaisan no zu"(1:50,000) made by the Geological Survey of Japan, which was printed in 1889 as a disaster map of the 1888 collapse, "Bandaisan no zu"(1:50,000),which gave the state 10 years after the disaster and so on. We made a former digital terrain model(FdTM in this paper)from this pre-collapse map and compared it with photographs,old records and so on. Incidentally, this study was a cooperative research project organized by the Science and Technology Agency. |
