Apr.  2   14:00    An eruption was observed on the western hillside of Mt.Konpira on the northern side of Mt. Usu again.

After this, the eruptions have changed to the activity mainly of phreatic explosion, diminishing height of the volcanic fumes, erupting power and thermal energy.

However, because magma that has ascended to date is providing energy, eruptions similar to the present status are considered to continue around each crater group, monitoring activities have been continued. (July 10, 2000)
