Global Mapping

Outline of Global Mapping for Sustainable Development

PREFACE

This course is designed to give participants a better understanding of the importance of the Global Mapping project, which aims at global environmental conservation. At the same time, participants will enhance their technical skill necessary for the Global Map data preparation, thus contributing to sustainable development in harmony with the environment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the participants are expected to :
  1. understand the importance of Global Mapping in policy making especially to cope with global environmental problems,
  2. enhance the skills of applying remote sensing and GIS in developing the Global Map,
  3. acquire the skills and the procedure to develop Global Map data, as well as enhancing the knowledge of the latest technologies in related fields,
  4. be able to fully coordinate the Global Mapping project in their respective countries.

QUALIFICATION OF APPLICANT

Applicants should:
  1. be a member of National Mapping Organization;
  2. be nominated by their government;
  3. be university graduates or equivalent;(28 years old or more, 40 years old or less);
  4. be working in or going to work in the Global Mapping project in their countries;
  5. have more than three years experience in the field of GIS, Remote Sensing;
  6. be in good health both physically and mentally to undergo the training; and
  7. not be serving in the military.

TRAINING TERM

This training will be performed for two and a half (2.5) months from the beginning of June to the end of August.
