Abstract

It is important for every country in the tropics climate to solve environmental problems, such as reduction of forests, desertifaction and urbanization. To solve these problems, it is necessary to get information on topography and land cover and to understand and analyze environmental changes.
In this research, we developed a technique to get digital elevation data using satellite imagery and technique for analyzing environmental changes using Geographical Information Systems (GIS). In addition, we compiled an interpretation manual for microwave imagery to help classify land cover.
