Abstract

In Antarctica, there is a Global Positioning System (GPS) station at the Syowa Base called SYOG, which was built by the 36th Japanese Antarctica Research Expedition (JARE36). The GPS data of Syowa and International GPS service for Geodynamics (IGS) stations have been analyzed to check the quality of Syowa GPS data.
These data are analyzed by Precise Point Positioning using GIPSY-OASIS2) developed by the jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). From the results of the analysis, we calculated the coordinates and rates of these GPS stations and estimated internal deformation and the plate motion of the Antarctic Plate.
Some results (coordinates) of Syowa, especially for height, are different form the coordinates calculated by all results. This is caused by problems with the time-tag of the Syowa receiver. Therefore, we are investigating the cause of the time-tag trouble.
